In a difficult race, some well-known figures from the rodeo trail won checks in the Young Guns League Derby.
The Young Guns League (YGL), a recent addition to the Pink Buckle barrel race, was created especially to showcase junior stallions. Stallions age out of the program and their progeny lose their racing eligibility under a set of rules.
Some of the top and brightest up-and-coming talents in barrel racing were on display in this extremely difficult race. At the Lazy E Arena in Guthrie, Oklahoma, the $250,000 2D Derby and the $4.2 million Pink Buckle Derby got things started on October 5–6.
